Toucan Technologies Limited is over fourteen (14) years old and is based in Trinidad and Tobago, which is one of the most industrialized islands in the Caribbean region. Toucan Technologies’ core services were developed out of the Telecommunication Industry and as such we are the most experienced MOSCAD-based solution provider in the Caribbean region and have been highly successful and aggressive. We have been Value Added Resellers (VAR’s) for Motorola Based SCADA solutions for the past fourteen (14) years. Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is a control system architecture that uses computers, networked data communications and graphical user interfaces for high-level process supervisory management, but uses other peripheral devices such as programmable logic controllers and discrete PID controllers to interface to the process plant or machinery. The operator interfaces which enable monitoring and the issuing of process commands, such as controller set point changes, are handled through the SCADA supervisory computer system. However, the real-time control logic or controller calculations are performed by networked modules which connect to the field sensors and actuators.
Through years of System Integration experience in the region, Toucan Technologies Limited has demonstrated the capabilities to integrate the MOSCAD-based solution into different applications and industries. We support one of the largest SCADA systems in the Caribbean and we have developed an extensive client base throughout the Caribbean.
Our key employees have been involved in the implementation of over ten (10) Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems across the Caribbean in all of the markets mentioned above. One of the largest systems in the region today was implemented and is being supported and expanded by employees of Toucan.
Our involvement in implementing these systems, most of which are located in remote areas across the country, have resulted in the expansion of our services to include the Maintenance of Buildings and Grounds surrounding these sites inclusive of communication tower climbing and servicing, Civil/ Structural/ Designs and Construction Services. Our primary markets include clients in the Oil and Gas Sector, Public Sector Utilities, Telecommunication Facilities and Government Agencies, including the Ministry of National Security.
As a result, we have both a highly skilled technical team who deals with the implementation of these systems as listed below and a highly skilled maintenance team who are trained to work in sensitive areas across the country.
We build SCADA systems from end-to-end meaning from Instrumentation to the Control Centre Man-Machine-Interface (MMI) with absolutely no reliance on foreign manufacturers or integrators.
